Milrad
Submitted by Lonek and Ron Milrad, Tel Aviv. Interviewed by Dr. Zvika Reiter in 2014.Arye (Lonek) Milrad was born in Drohobycz in 1920. His father was a contractor. Lonek, an only child studied in the elementary and high school in Drohobycz.
His mother was murdered in the Shoah. Lonek and his father were first in hiding and then in Płaszów, Mauthausen and Gusen (?). His father did not survive.
After liberation Lonek immigrated to Israel aboard the “Hannah Senesh” vessel in 1945. His wife Isabela Rosenbaum made Aliyah in 1948.
Lonek held management positions at various branches of the ministry of finance until his retirement.
About ten years ago, Lonek published his war time memoirs: “The fateful leap”, which was edited by his son Ron who is named after Lonek’s father.
Lonek has two children.

אריה מילרד ז"ל. בן גניה ואהרון מילרד נולד ביום ה-8.5.1920 בדרוהוביץ'
נפטר ביום ה- 6.1.2021 בבית חולים תל השומר.
היה בן יחיד להוריו. אמו גניה נרצחה בשואה ואריה (לונק) יחד עם אביו אהרון, היו במסתור ולאחר מכן במחנות:"פלשוב","מאטהאוזן" ו"גוזנשטיין".
אביו לא שרד, ובשנת 1945 בתום המלחמה אריה עלה ארצה באוניה "חנה סנש". הגיע לירושלים והתגייס לצבא. שירת במחנה "שנלר" ,שם הכיר את אשתו ז"ל, איזבלה לבית רוזנבאום, ילידת חלם בפולין, גם היא ניצולת השואה, ונישאו בשנת 1948.
גרו בירושלים. בשנת 1952 נולדה בתם מירה (מילרד) מרקוס ,ושנתיים אחר כך נולד הבן רון. אריה ואיזבלה עברו לגור בדיור מוגן "בית גיל הזהב" בתל אביב, בכדי להיות קרוב לילדיהם ומשפחתם המורחבת.
אריה (לונק) נפטר, בגיל 100 וחצי שנים. הותירו את ילדיהם, מירה ורון, שלושה נכדים ו-3 נינים.
